Spring...

"Spring is here, spring is here!" This is a chant from Bambi 2 that my kids were singing this morning. That is because they saw a robin - 2 robins & 1 blue jay to be exact - in our front yard. They had to call Daddy at work and share.

I love how excited they get when things, normal things, give them joy. It reminds me that I need to see joy in the normal things around me too. I find I get so focused on the mundane chores and duties that I miss the fact there's joy to be found in them. So that means that I lost sight of God.

Now I know that sounds harsh, but it is true. God is the one who brings fall, summer, winter and spring, sunshine and rain, springtime and harvest; and when they just pass me by I have forgotten that he is in control. I have forgotten that he is the one taking care of me. I have forgotten him. That is ungratefulness in my heart.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the springtime, thank you for the robins, thank you for my children who you used to bring me back to you this morning. Help me to trust your control today. Help me to be grateful for your hand in our world and my life today. May it cause me to be joyful in you and thankful for you. In Jesus name, Amen.

  1. so apparently your pastor was at our church on Sunday. We were at the first service, and apparently, Rev. Piper was at the second one.
